SURFACE GRINDING (single-side face grinding)

For small and very large workpieces

Surface grinding is the ideal process for finishing both small and very large workpieces. During this process, the parts are machined on one side thereby ensuring highly accurate abrasion on each side as the workpiece sides are finished one after another. With our Göckel surface-grinding machines, we can offer highly flexible surface grinding of small and large workpieces tailored precisely to your specifications. The modern single-side grinding process allows us to finish workpieces of sizes ranging up to 12,000 mm x 1,200 mm. If required, parts can be ground in one machinery section only while the other section is set up with the proper tooling, which minimises set-up times. Surface grinding as specified by you: Disc grinding or peripheral grinding

For surface grinding, the workpieces are fixed in the magnetic clamping plate of our Göckel grinding machines. The components can then be finished by two different methods: either with a segmented grinding disc (disc grinding) or with a grinding wheel (peripheral grinding). The vertical spindle and the large segmented grinding disc used in disc grinding allow a particularly large amount of removal as the workpiece is processed over its entire width in one pass thus generating marks of arc-grinding on the workpiece. In peripheral grinding, the grinding wheel is arranged horizontally to the workpiece and the workpiece is only ground at grinding-wheel width leaving straight grinding marks on the workpiece, which are characteristic for this grinding process. What both methods have in common is the fixed bed with the grinding disc moving over the workpieces.
